Contribution
I was actively involved from concept development through execution. My contributions included generating the architectural concept, producing detailed presentation and working drawings, and maintaining strong client relationships throughout the project. I conducted regular site inspections to ensure design intent was realized accurately and managed the workflow efficiently across all phases. Additionally, I coordinated with vendors and consultants to streamline communication and ensure smooth integration of various systems and services into the overall design.

Mithun’s Farmhouse is a weekend retreat on a 10-acre plot near Hyderabad, designed as a “House in the Farm.” Blending traditional courtyard planning with contemporary design, it occupies just 1.5 acres, preserving the agrarian landscape. The home revolves around a central courtyard, seamlessly connecting to private outdoor pockets. A flat-slab structure enhances flow, while a dramatic linear staircase links the recreational and private zones, offering a grounded, nature-connected living experience.

Set in the rural landscape of Sanctum, the farmhouse emphasizes a delicate balance between built and unbuilt environments. Drawing inspiration from traditional courtyard homes, the design reinterprets this typology with clean lines, contemporary materials, and spatial openness. The remaining land is intentionally preserved for farming and natural landscaping, reinforcing the connection to the site's agricultural roots.

Originally conceptualized as a single-story courtyard house, the design evolved into a dynamic, multi-layered composition with carefully framed views in all directions. Openings across the solid mass invite natural light and air, while maintaining privacy and responding to the local climate. The result is a serene, responsive home that reflects a lifestyle rooted in simplicity, nature, and timeless architectural values.

The arrival sequence begins from the north and east, leading into a fluid, open-plan living area beneath a flat slab that enhances the home’s spatial clarity. Beyond, the layout unfolds toward more private areas like bedrooms and service zones. A slender staircase nestled within a narrow corridor leads to the upper-level primary suite, offering a striking moment of transition and vertical movement.

The home is organized around a narrow central courtyard that anchors all primary spaces, living, dining, kitchen, and bedrooms also promoting ventilation, daylight, and intimacy. Each room opens into distinct outdoor extensions such as sunken seating, party zones, and garden alcoves, softening the boundary between interior and exterior. These layered spaces foster a deep connection with nature and create opportunities for reflection, recreation, and social gathering.
