Saumur Wine Tasting Center
Located in the dense heart of Saumur, France, this wine-tasting center transforms a constrained urban site into a serene, inward-focused experience. Anchored by a central courtyard, the design invites light and movement into its core, organizing tasting rooms, retail, and event spaces around this quiet void. Emphasizing internal views and curated skylines, the architecture offers a contemplative setting where wine, space, and atmosphere come together in refined harmony.

Set within the dense urban fabric of Saumur, France, this wine-tasting center responds to the challenges of a compact, enclosed site by focusing inward. With limited external views and surrounding buildings in close proximity, the design reimagines these constraints as a catalyst for spatial innovation.

At the heart of the project is a central courtyard, an open-air anchor that brings light, air, and clarity into the interior. All key programmatic elements, including tasting rooms, retail spaces, and event areas, are organized around this courtyard to foster visual continuity, fluid movement, and a calm, immersive atmosphere.

Instead of relying on outward-facing views, the design curates internal experiences through carefully placed openings and controlled sightlines to the sky and surrounding context. This inward focus creates a rich, contemplative environment where architecture and wine culture converge, offering visitors a thoughtful and elegant space for exploration and reflection.
